The Chile-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce has developed a unique program with Experiencship Global SpA, to insert Chilean university student interns into ASEAN companies so they can further develop professionally through a first-hand experience in doing business with and in ASEAN nations. The Program was launched in 2018 and this year, we have expanded the number of students participating in the program to include multiple degrees and universities.

 

During the internship period it is expected that the students learn about business in their recipient country, the internal corporate cultural of the host company, local culture, and to work with their host company to explore business expansions into Chile and the other Latin America countries. In exchange, the host companies obtain an outward view about their business and more importantly, an on-site local associate that can provide key expertise and facilitation on how to access and work with the Latin-American market. Furthermore, once the students return to Chile after the program, they can be a key contact person for their host company, able to assist endeavors in Chile and the region. Host companies can benefit from this opportunity by furthering their relationship with said student/s as local representatives or through other means of employment or collaboration.

 

The program has all types of interns for different periods throughout the year (periods ranging from 2 to 6), with the next group of interns starting in July 2019. Overall, the CAIP is a low-risk and low-cost opportunity that could benefit companies in ASEAN looking to explore or expand their operations in Chile and Latin America. The students assume all of their costs (flights, vistas, accommodation and local expenses) while the host company provides a monthly stipend.
